Dog-sled racing
In our resort of Formigal you can try your hand at driving a group of half a dozen huskies through the snow. As pack animals, designed to live in cold climates they will have as much fun as you will. Training is provided and the dogs are all strong, obedient animals who are well cared for by husky specialists.

Skidoo
Speed across the mountains on a skidoo. These snow vehicles are a combination of a motorized sled with tracks at the back and steerable skis at the front.

Video slalom
Improve your ski style by watching a video of yourself at our video-slalom slope or simply use the facilities to time your descent and race against the clock.

Nordic skiing
Explore different parts of the resorts in peace and quiet and take in the breathtaking beauty of the mountain countryside by following one of our cross-country routes.

Snowshoeing
If you like to hike, you’ll love snowshoeing. This easy-to-learn sport is lots of fun and an ideal way to see the backcountry. You can go for a leisurely walk in the snow or a more challenging adventure higher into the mountains.

Heliski
If you really want to explore unchartered territory then heliskiing could be just the thing for you. Skiers are taken to the summit of the mountain by helicopter from where they ski down through virgin snow. In Europe only Spain, Italy and Switzerland offer heliskiing.

Orienteering
Use a map and compass to navigate your way between checkpoints dotted throughout the resorts and work your way back home.

4X4 Experience
If you like to go off-road and explore where your whim takes you then try the 4X4 experience. The central Spanish Pyrenees are full of tracks and paths only accessible by off-road vehicles and if you’re wondering what to visit, bear in mind that Aragon has the largest number of abandoned villages in all of Spain so you never know when you might stumble upon a ghost town.

Jaca and ice-skating
Spend a day in this historic city awash with churches and cathedrals. A well-known destination among ornithologists, Jaca is home to many rare bird species including the lammergeyer or quebrantahuesos which smashes the bones of its prey on rocks.
If you’re not worn out after visiting all Jaca has to offer and you fancy yourself as a bit of a Torvill or Dean, then why not try out the town’s ice rink. As part of Jaca’s bid to host the Winter Olympics a new rink is being built at a cost of €22 million, so far.

Cultural excursions
Visit the mysterious mountain monastery of San Juan de la Peña, a former sanctuary for Christian monks and refugees during the Muslim occupation and a few centuries ago the home of the ‘real’ Holy Grail which is now in Valencia cathedral.
See rare birds of prey swooping among magnificent mountain scenery in the National Park of Ordessa and Monte Perdido, Spain’s second national park to be protected and perhaps its most dramatic.

Take a trip back in time to the golden age of rail travel with a visit to the disused belle epoque train station of Canfranc Estación. Squeezed between high mountains these magnificent buildings once housed, among other things, a hotel, post office and police station at this the last stop before France.

See wolves, bison, deer and lynx in their natural mountain habitat at La Cuniacha fauna park in the Tena Valley.

If you fancy venturing a bit further then La Ruta de los Castillos takes in some of the region’s castles and La Ruta Romanica visits Romanesque churches and remains. For more ‘routes’ through the region visit www.huescalamagia.es
Or see all of these and more in miniature at Pirenarium the park of the Pyrenees. There are replicas of the Aragon Pyrenees showing the most important monuments as well as the geography, water, snow and nature of the region.
